October 1st FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!

City Center park is the place to be from 6-9pm on Friday October 1st! Come check out 3 great local bands--Israel Darling, Emily Stewart and the Baby Teeth, and Matty Sheets and the Blockheads.  Don't miss the Mischief Makers Handmade Market and kids activities on the lawn. Bring a lawn chair or Blanket to lounge on the lawn or come play in the fountain :)

If you haven't yet been to one of the FREE outdoor concerts at Center City Park this year then it's time you came!!  This month features a free show by local indie favorites Hammer No More the Fingers, Bronzed Chorus, and Decoration Ghost!! Come lounging on the lawn and enjoy some great music. Also, don't miss the Mischief Makers Handmade Market- select, local, indie designers and handmade crafters and vintage collectors displaying their finest wares for you. Celebrating Independence Day since 1975

The Fun Fourth Festival has been presented annually since 1975 as a community celebration of Independence Day for Guilford County and the Piedmont Triad.The festival is held in the Cultural District of Downtown Greensboro and at Grimsley High School.
Over 90,000 people will attend Fun Fourth events this year, including the Freedom Run, the Kickoff Block Party, the Parade and Street Festival, as well as the Pops Concert and Gate City Fireworks Spectacular. More than 100 businesses help sponsor the events and over 12,000 volunteer hours of assistance are donated.
Fun Fourth maintains all the favorite American Independence Day traditions and offers great entertainment and exhibits free. Put on your red, white and blue and come downtown to celebrate!
The Fun Fourth Festival is produced by Grassroots Productions Limited. This local non-profit corporation focuses on charitable and educational activities which foster interest in local history and events in Guilford County. An advisory board of local business and civic leaders oversees the planning of each event for this 501(c)3 organization.
The Annual Fun Fourth Festival has been recognized as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism society and as an Outstanding Event by Celebration NC Foundation.

Friday Night Live! at Center City Park

Last month over a 1,000 people gathered in the park, spread blankets on the lawn, listened to the music, enjoyed the kid's activities, shopped the Handmade market, and enjoyed the ambiance of our downtown. ArtBeat I say is a 10 day celebration of the arts in Greensboro. It includes contributions from many different established and emerging arts groups in the areas of music, theatre, visual arts, performance art and street festivals.
Founded in 2007 by Triad Stage, The Greensboro Symphony, and Eastern Music Festival, this years ArtBeat has 16 participants featuring over 60 events spanning the 10 days starting on April 30th and ending May 9th.

Lyndon Street Artworks, Blowing up the spot!!


 The talented artists from Lyndon Street Artworks collective are uniting like Voltron to invade the parking lot next to Cheesecakes by Alex to unleash an artistic whirlwind that will sweep you up and blow you away!  Everyday I hear of new things planned for their special section of the Shindig...a flamenco band? interactive art project? A mountain of Mashed potatoes you can snowboard down?? We're not quite sure, so you'll have to come check it out and experience it for yourself! Hand-Crafted, Local Beer by Natty Greene's





We are proud to welcome Natty Greene's to the Shindig Art+Craft+Music Festival! The Natty Greene's beer wagon will be on site to serve up their delicious brews to quench your thirsting palate.  The Shindig will be a wrist-banded event; anyone wishing to purchase and consume beer will have to stop by the wrist-banding station with proper ID to receive a wristband. Once you got your special wristband, you will be allowed to purchase  a cold Natty's beer and consume it anywhere within the Festival grounds.
Please help us put on a safe and enjoyable festival for all. Consume beer responsibly. Do not drink and drive. Do not leave the festival grounds with your beer. Do not enter Elm Street businesses with beer, and do not bring beer out on the Street from Elm Street businesses. Thanks!!

Getting to the Shindig

There are plenty of ways to get to the Shindig. There is also plenty of parking downtown so fear not!!  Here is some tips make your travel to and from the festival easy and enjoyable.

1) Ride your bike!! There are lots of safe bike lanes and trails you can utilize to make your way downtown on two wheels. There are also lots of new safe and secure (and artsy!) bike racks for your bike.

2) Take the bus! If you have never ridden the Greensboro Buses then you are missing out on an experience. There are 6 bus routes that run on Sunday from 6am to 6pm. Check out this GTA site to plan your route!

3) If you are going to drive then there are many options for parking. Check out this map for all the insider info on great parking decks and lots. There is also on street parking on Davie, Washington, Elm, MLK, February 1, Greene, Spring Garden, and McGee to mention a few. Keep in mind that Elm Street between McGee and Washington will be closed to through traffic.
